20 Time Management Hacks That Worked For Me

Ryan’s Business Lessons 📁 #2

These are 20 productivity hacks that worked for me:

  1. Don’t schedule a 60 minute meeting if it can be done in 45 minutes.
  2. Don’t schedule a 30 minute meeting if it can be done in 15 minutes.
  3. Don’t schedule a meeting if it can be summarized in an email.
  4. Don’t schedule a non urgent call at 4:30 PM on a Friday that can wait until 8:00 AM Monday.
  5. If an email goes back and forth fives times schedule a 15 minute call to end the madness.
  6. So much gets figured out on a phone call. Plus it saves time from it being an email.
  7. Fire drills are for fire fighters in your organization. Hire fire fighters who can prevent fires from happening.
  8. Turning your phone off to focus is the ultimate power move.
  9. Delegate to the best employee for the task.
  10. Allow your best employees to have ownership and take task off your plate.
  11. Don’t be afraid to block your calendar for important task and projects.
  12. Multitasking is toxic for your time. Focusing on one task at time is gold.
  13. Take a periodic moment once a month to reflect on your current schedule.
  14. Take a longer moment to enjoy how productive you’ve become with your time.
  15. Take an even longer moment to figure out what’s the biggest drag on your time. Work to eliminate these blockers, hurdles, and drags on your time.
  16. Double down on the most productive parts of your day. Morning people block your mornings to work on projects. Evening people block your nights to finish tasks.
  17. Taking detailed notes during meetings is crucial for recalling action items.
  18. Don’t be afraid to turn down invites and decline meetings as a leader.
  19. Give people time back if the call doesn’t take 30 or 60 minutes. Don’t use all the time if it’s not needed.
  20. Give your team time to recharge at the end of long projects, long working sessions, and long weeks.
